Maintenance Team Kendrick

Maintenance team Kendrick was a compilation of guys from units under the 593rd Support Command or possibly, more specifically, the 5th itself as noted in the 5th Maintenance organizational chart on Alan Winger's website.  Team Kendrick was attached to Task Force Moroz. The name of this task force changed with changes in it's  commander

Task Force Zapone (CO: CPT Zapone) started operation supporting the 1st Cavalry in 1967 on LZ Uplift near the village of Bong Song. The name of the Task Force changed with each new CO.
When I (Fred Garnes) joined the Task Force in January 1968 it was designated Task Force Finstad (CO: LT Finstad) In mid January 1968 the first brigade of the 1st Cav moved to Quang Tri from Bong Son to help out the over worked Marines, and in anticipation of TET? With that move, Task Force Moroz (CO: CPT Moroz) grew in size particularly the mechanic section. The Task Force supported elements of the Cav with things the Cav itself didn't have at the time in 1 & 2 Corps, relying on the 1st Log's 593rd Support Group for help. I believe that most support elements in Qui Nhon were under the 593rd.

The addition of Team Kendrick to the Task Force, upon following the Cav to Quang Tri, brought the number of mechanics from two (I was one) to more than at least a dozen or more.

Team Kendrick's in ground hooch made by a couple passes of a dozer and built with timbers, PLS steel planks and sand bags.
This is a photo of Team Kendrick's hooch taken from inside my hooch, a GP Small tent. No way I'd stay in that potential pre-dug grave
