5th Maintenance Battalion

We are a loosely organized group of Vietnam veterans that served in the 5th Maintenance Bn in and around Qui Nhon So Vietnam. Some of us were there at it's inception in 1965 and some of us saw the Battalion stand down in 1970. We did a variety of technical work involving repair of anything the Army put on the ground, jeeps, deuce and a halfs, tractors, artillery, radar, radio equipment, engineer equipment etc. When equipment was at the end of it's life, we had one of only two units in-country that classified the worn out or junk as repairable or scrap.

Some of us had it easier than others. Some had easy jobs, some "skated" most worked hard in less than favorable conditions. Some gave their lives.
