Robert Gilmer Garrett

December 25, 1945 - February 10, 1969

Robert Gilmer Garrett was born on Christmas Day, 1945. He lived in Castlewood, Virginia and attended Castlewood High School. Robert, unmarried, was drafted into the U.S. Army. After his training, he recieved his orders to Vietnam and started his tour with E Co Trp Cmd USAD (former 526th CC&S) on May 17 1968.

Robert advanced to the rank of Sp4 while assigned to E Co. Robert, 23, lost his life in a non hostile vehicle crash on February 10, 1969. He was in Vietnam approximately 9 months.

Robert Gilmer Garrett was laid to rest in Temple Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Castlewood, Virginia.

(Although verified by another driver at the crash site that incoming fire was the cause of the crash, this wasn't recorded by the Army)
